Trust in God
August 26, 2008The Key that makes everything else work.
Are you tired of being chained to habits you can’t seem to change.
Alcohol, Tobacco, Drugs, Work, even Food that isn’t the best, we can even branch into character traits such as Temper (or any other unhealthy emotion that has control of us).
Do we try to put all our bad habits & sins in a coffin & try to hold them in there until they are buried? NO, this just doesn’t work!! Oh, it might on a short term basis, but when we need permanent change we need a way for a change of life!
“Apart from divine power, no genuine reform can be effected. Human barriers against natural and cultivated tendencies are but as the sand-bank against the torrent. Not until the life of Christ becomes a vitalizing power in our lives can we resist the temptations that assail us from within and without. When one surrenders to Christ, the mind is brought under the control of the law; but it is the royal law, which proclaims liberty to every captive. By becoming one with Christ, man is made free. Subjection to the will of Christ means restoration to perfect manhood or womanhood.” Ministry of Healing p130-131
We plug into God’s power by Prayer and Bible Study
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there any thing too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27 The answer to this question is YES.
There is one thing He can’t do because He gave us freedom of choice. Therefore, He can’t “make” you do something against your choice. So, how do I reach a point where I want to make a change, where I am willing to make a choice to rid my life of all things that science & the Bible have shown me are detrimental to living a full life.
For me, I had to realize the truth of
John 10:10 “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Sometimes we think that our lives will be somehow deprived of some enjoyment, however, more than anything else Jesus wants us to have an abundant life, which we can’t do if our choices lead us to ill health. I emphasize choice here because sometimes genes or accidents have taken our health, but even then taking these natural physicians placed in the world at Creation can make a difference.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 “If you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
God asks us not to rely on our feelings, but to have faith in His promises, believing that we’ve received the help we’ve asked for. —
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Receive a Changed Life because your focus is on Jesus & not yourself. His promise: Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
This promise didn’t quite seem real to me until I caught the picture painted in ![]()
Isaiah 41:13 “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”
Just think of it, we can depend on God’s strength not our own!! Like the little girl who was walking in deep snow with her father, as long as she was holding her fathers hand she kept slipping and falling. Finally, her father took her hand now it was his strength holding her up and she no longer kept falling. So it is as long as we allow God to hold our hand we will reap the ‘more abundant life’ that He longs for us to have.
Trust in God is not always thought about in line with natural physicians, however, inner peace that this trust develops in you, enhances everything else that you do for your health.

Temperance — What Does this Mean?
August 17, 2008“To abstain entirely from that which is injurious, and to use judiciously, or in moderation, that which is healthful or good for you.”
Lets look a couple of the many things we should not do according to this definition.
Alcohol —- this is a DRUG. In fact, actually the most dangerous drug on earth.
Alcohol is literally found around the world. No country is safe from it’s influence.
It is a well know fact that ½ of all fatal accidents involve alcohol.
Another fact, 2 out of 3 people involved in murder were under the influence
In reality Alcohol is a poison which causes Ulcers, Cirrhosis of the Liver, Kills & depresses brain cells with no Nutrition except for lots of calories.
If someone drinks too much alcohol, we call them an alcoholic. People often ask, “how can I know if I am alcoholic.” One of the definitions is that you are an alcoholic if alcohol interferes in any one of three areas of your life. If alcohol interferes with your job, you are a problem drinker. If alcohol is causing any physical problems, you are an alcoholic. And if alcohol is causing any problems in your interpersonal relationships you are an alcoholic.
Proverbs 20:1 – “Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.”
Another drug that takes million of lives — Can you guess what it is?
Right = Tobacco
Over 500 million people worldwide die from smoking every year!!
The most important part of the lung is not the airway going down your throat. That area goes down and divides into smaller and smaller airways. And when you get down to the end you have little air sacs that let the oxygen transfer into the blood. This is the most important part of the lung. The air sacs are like a balloon.
When you blow up a balloon it takes effort but when you let the air out you don’t have to work at it. The elasticity of the balloon makes the air go out. The lung is like that. Smoking has a bad effect on these little air sacs. It reduces the elasticity in them so they don’t push the air out and old air with the oxygen taken out gets trapped . As the air sacks stretch many of them actually break. This causes a disease called emphysema.
We could go on & on about the diseases caused by smoking – showing gross pictures of what various organs look like when subjected to smoking. – But we’d rather spend our time telling you how to quit if you’ve already started. 5 years after quitting unless permanent damage is already done your organs are back to normal.
Here are 10 tips that are important to one who wants to stop.
- Choose not to smoke.—- Choice is the 1st step, it starts with a deliberately making up your mind that you will do this for yourself.
- No hidden Cigarettes —- make no provision for failure.
- Deep Breathing —- fresh air drawn deeply into the lungs held for a count of 4, then exhaled deeply enough to do cough,
- Daily Exercise (at least walking) —- this stimulates the endorphins, the feel good hormones that helps us hold on to the good choice that we have made to stop.
- Get More Sleep — whenever you are changing habits you are stressing your body & enough sleep is almost mandatory. Most people need 8 hours.
- Water on the inside —- divide your weight by 2, then make sure you drink that many ounces of water, usually around 8-10 glasses.
- Water on the outside —- you can’t smoke in the shower!! Also since nicotine is excreted through the skin it can be washed off.
- Avoid: caffeine, alcohol, heavy meals, highly spiced foods —- all of these tend to help create the craving for nicotine making it harder to hold to your decision.
- Avoid high risk situations: –special chairs, work breaks, people who smoke —- it takes 21 days to create a new habit, until such time as you have a new habit to replace the habit of smoking don’t put yourself where the smoking ‘habit’ is stimulated to kick in.
- Expect that others will not understand. — unfortunately there will always be those who don’t understand the dangers of smoking or who don’t want you to be successful in quitting if they feel they can’t do it.
Neither, Alcohol or smoking is something to share with a friend!!!!
